Information about the island

Ustica is the top of a submerged volcano in the Tyrrhenian Sea, 36 miles far from the northern coast of Sicily. The coast is dented, the volcanic rocks are black, the landscape is wild. The intense colours of the vegetation and the wonderful seabed make it even more fascinating.
It is 8 Kmq wide with a perimeter of 10 Km; there are roads and hidden paths, stone walls, cultivated crops, the Mediterranean scrub and ,in the background , the amazing view of our charming sea. The breathtaking seabed, the rich flora and fauna in the sea are the most appreciated ones ever all over the world.

From the harbor you climb up to the small village where 1,000 people live all year round. It will give you a warm welcome with its stone lanes and colorful murales, its shops, cafés , restaurants and further facilities.

Ustica is a member of the tourist route called “slow islands” which are on line all together as they support and highlight the importance of their agriculture, catch of fish and of their traditional cuisine. They respect their fragile land and sea environment, they are sustainable tourism oriented and they attract people thanks to their agriculture and traditional fishing methods.
